Diatomaceous Earth, the key ingredient in this product, is a natural, fossilised powder made from the remains of diatoms (a type of algae). There are two types: food grade and filter grade. Filter grade is toxic to mammals due to its high crystalline silica content, while food grade, containing 0.5–2% crystalline silica, is safe for consumption. It passes through the digestive system unchanged and does not enter the bloodstream. Happy Bum Co Gut Scrub uses food-grade Diatomaceous Earth, which is rich in essential minerals.
