The Naked Pharmacy's Saffrosun Energy differs from Saffrosun Calm in one ingredient. As well as the all important saffron extract, the vitamin D3 and prebiotic, Saffrosun Energy contains iodine instead of vitamin B12. The iodine is sourced from marine algae. It helps with efficient energy utilisation and metabolism and also supports optimum cognitive, thyroid and nervous system function. 95% of the clinical efficacy of Saffrosun relates to the three high strength saffron bioactives (crocin, saffranal & picrocrocin), the concentration of these are identical in the two formulations i.e. 3.5%, with the daily dose of 2 capsules providing 30mg of saffron extract. The Vitamin D3 and Baobab prebiotic contained within the tapioca capsule shell are also the same in both formulations. As this formulation contains iodine it should not be used if taking iodine supplements and it is not suitable for those with an overactive thyroid gland. It is suitable for those with an underactive thyroid gland who may be receiving thyroxine therapy. Vitamin D3 and iodine are food-sourced from Scottish marine algae and organic Baobab from the Baobab tree. We pick saffron from Catalonia in Northern Spain, which produces the highest strength of saffron (3.5%) with the three bioactives we are looking for (crocin, saffranal and picrocrocin). Catalonia enjoys the ideal temperatures and soil conditions to grow the most potent saffron in the world.
