In the world of alternative medicine, practices often blend ancient traditions with modern science to address various ailments. One particular practice that is gaining lots of attention lately is the Full moon parasite cleanse. Its tradition is rooted in ancient wisdom and now supported by some scientific evidence. This ritualistic cleanse aims to rid the body of parasites during the full moon phase. Let’s dive into what exactly happens.

First of all what is a Parasite?

Parasites are organisms that live in another organism, known as the host and they benefit at the host’s expense. They can range from microscopic organisms like protozoa to larger worms like tapeworms. We all have parasites to some degree and are not only limited to developing countries contrary to popular belief, they can be found worldwide.

Parasitic overpopulation can lead to a whole array of health issues, including digestive disturbances, nutrient deficiencies, fatigue, brain fog and even more severe ones if left untreated. Being so illusive and diverse it is quite challenging to diagnose them and may require specific tests, usually a stool test.

Where does the full moon come in to Parasite Cleansing?

The lunar cycle and particularly the full moon has been long associated with cultural and spiritual beliefs. In many cultures the full moon is the most powerful time of the moon phase when cleansing rituals and spiritual practices are at their most powerful. It is known that the moon affects the tides and to no surprise as we are made up of 70% water it too has an influence on us. The gravitational pull of the full moon affects water levels in the body including those with parasites. It is hypothesised that parasites are at their most active during this phase and may also reproduce thus making it easier to eliminate them during this phase.

The parasite cleanse process

There are various versions of a full moon cleanse but it typically involves a combination of dietary modifications, herbal supplementations and detoxification practices.

  1. Dietary adjustments: It is advisable to eliminate certain foods from ones diet, particularly those parasites feed off such as refined Sugar, processed foods and gluten. Instead focusing on fresh fruits (papaya is especially effective as it is anti parasitic as well as high in fibre to keep things moving along!) Vegetables, lean proteins and plenty of water to flush everything out and support the detoxification process.

  1. Herbal supplements: Herbal remedies with anti parasitic properties are key. These include wormwood and black walnut, raw garlic, ginger and oregano oil. These herbs kill the parasites and support the body in eliminating them. There are various ways to take these herbs be it tinctures, teas or pills.

  1. Detoxification process: This process is very important as once the parasites start dying off it is important to make sure they are expelled from the body. These may include fasting, sauna, enemas and colon cleansing. It's also recommended to take a binder such as Black Charcoal, Chlorella or Chlorophyll to help with the process as they bind to toxins and facilitate their removal without the body reabsorbing them and making us unwell. It is also very important to drink plenty of water to aid the removal of toxins. These practices aim to help the body’s natural detoxification pathways and facilitate the elimination of the parasites and toxins.

Whilst the full moon parasite cleanse may offer potential benefits it is important to approach them with caution and mindfulness. Often, it is also recommended to work closely with a healthcare professional beforehand to discuss the potential side effects especially if one has underlying health conditions or is on medication. It's also important to take into consideration that we are all bio-individual and what works for one person may not necessarily work for another.

The full moon parasite cleanse offers a holistic approach to the removal of parasites although scientific evidence remains limited. Many individuals report a host of benefits- more energy, enhanced mental clarity, improved digestion, clearer skin and a sense of wellbeing following the cleanse. Whether it's viewed as a spiritual ritual or detox practice as it continues to intrigue people it is important to address it mindfully with an awareness of one's own body and needs.
