Frequently Asked Questions

What is fatigue?

Fatigue is considered a feeling of tiredness or exhaustion caused by a variety of factors. Fatigue can be mental, physical or both. Tiredness and exhaustion have a whole host of causes, from poor nutrition and lack of exercise to not getting enough quality sleep or resulting from stress. Fatigue can affect your ability to concentrate, to get on with normal tasks and, in general, seriously affect your overall wellbeing.

What supplements help to boost energy?

There are a number of different energy boosting supplements that can fight fatigue. The most obvious is caffeine, which is naturally found in tea and coffee. In order to improve energy levels, look out for supplements containing iron (due to its role in carrying oxygen in the blood to the muscles), B-complex vitamins (as they help help convert food into fuel), creatine (a natural compound that is stored in the muscles and used as an energy source during physical activity) and functional mushrooms like reishi and cordyceps.

Can supplements help with chronic fatigue?

Chronic fatigue is a long-term illness characterised by extreme, and often unexplained, tiredness. Supplements and other alternative treatments have been shown to help with reducing fatigue levels. Some supplements that help your body to rejuvenate include Ashwagandha, omega 3, iron and a whole host of vitamins. A mixture of these can be taken as part of a daily supplement regime, although you should speak to your GP for advice and guidance if you are suffering from chronic fatigue.
