Turnover Optimizer marks the beginning of Level II – Strength Training in the Dr. Liv Method, following successful completion of level I with the Overnight Smoother. The formula focuses on increasing cell turnover and supporting collagen production to help build stronger, more resilient skin over time.
It contains a combination of retinol, retinal, and bakuchiol to support accelerated cell renewal and collagen activity. These vitamin A derivatives work more powerfully than fruit acids, which explains why temporary dryness, redness, or peeling may occur during the first days of use as the skin adjusts.
The formulation includes ceramides, niacinamide, vitamin E, and skin-identical squalane to support the skin barrier and provide comfort during this strengthening phase. Delivered in a lightweight hyaluronic acid base, Turnover Optimizer remains well tolerated and suitable for all skin types, ages, and genders as part of a structured level II routine.
Dr. Liv Kraemer Skincare follows a structured, clinical approach that trains the skin through three clearly defined levels. LEVEL I acts as the foundation, focusing on gentle exfoliation, barrier support, and daily protection to restart cell turnover and prepare the skin for actives. LEVEL II builds on this base by introducing retinol, retinal, and bakuchiol in a controlled way to push cell renewal, strengthen collagen production, and address early to visible signs of ageing. LEVEL III delivers targeted personalisation, addressing specific concerns such as blemishes or redness through advanced topical formulas and internal support that reflect the skin–gut connection. Skin ageing slows cell turnover, weakens the skin barrier, and reduces its ability to recover from daily stress. Without a structured approach, active ingredients often overwhelm the skin or deliver inconsistent results. Progressing through these levels in the correct order allows the skin to adapt, strengthen, and respond more effectively over time, leading to improved texture, better tolerance, and healthier-looking skin in the long run.
Founded by dermatologist Dr. Liv Kraemer, this Swiss-made skincare line stems from over two decades of clinical experience in dermatology, stem cell research, and skin longevity. Her science-backed 3-Level Skin Longevity Method focuses on skin training, not perfection—supporting cell renewal, collagen production, and UV protection from the inside out. Each formula is dermatologist-developed, clean, and designed to work with your biology using key actives like niacinamide and prebiotics. Dr. Liv Skincare puts you back in control of your skin health—simplifying routines and helping you build stronger, clearer skin that lasts.

1. Cleanse your face: In the evening, cleanse your face with the Smoothing Cleanser, just as you would in your Level 1 routine.
2. Apply turnover optimizer: Dispense 1 to 2 drops of the Turnover Optimizer to the back of your hand and apply it to areas where you want to see the most results first (for example, on blemishes or under your cheekbones to boost collagen production). From there, distribute the remaining product across your face. The Turnover Optimizer can be used on the area under the eyes, but be sure to avoid the eyes, eyelids, and lips. After applying the Turnover Optimizer, refrain from using other creams to prevent “smearing” onto these sensitive areas.
3. The next morning - don’t forget your sunscreen. Just like with fruit acids, it’s essential to apply the Dr. Liv Super Day Shield (UVA/UVB protection) every morning when using Retinol.
4. Pause and repeat: At the beginning, the Turnover Optimizer should be used once a week, ideally on Monday evening. After three to four weeks, increase the frequency to Monday and Friday. After another four weeks, apply it on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, until your skin can handle it enough to use it Monday through Friday. On weekends and off nights, apply the Overnight Smoother instead. The Turnover Optimizer and Overnight Smoother should never be used on the same day.
5. Adjust seasonally: In winter, the air tends to be dry and we spend most of our time in heated rooms. These conditions increase the feeling of dryness that retinol can initially cause. That’s why the Turnover Optimizer should be used no more than three times a week in winter. In summer, the frequency can be increased to five times a week.
Should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
