Firefly Recovery devices uses a modified form of neuromuscular electrical stimulation, but instead of directly stimulating the muscle like traditional NMES devices, it targets the peroneal nerve. Standard NMES devices trigger repeated muscle contractions to mimic exercise, while TENS units are typically used to influence nerve signals for pain relief; both can lead to muscle fatigue when used over longer periods. Firefly takes a different route by activating the nerve that naturally drives muscle movement, helping to promote circulation without continuous muscle strain.
