Whether you've just finished a sweaty workout, spent the afternoon in the sun, or simply feel depleted, your body’s electrolyte balance might be off. And when your electrolyte levels dip, so does your energy, focus, and overall sense of wellbeing.
Electrolytes, like sodium, potassium, magnesium, and chloride are minerals that help regulate nerve signals, muscle contractions, hydration, and pH levels. When we lose them through sweat or illness, replenishing becomes essential for recovery and performance. But instead of reaching for a sugar-laden sports drink, you can create your own clean, hydrating electrolyte blend from whole foods and it tastes like summer in a glass.
This recipe is packed with hydrating and mineral-rich ingredients that support recovery and cellular health, no artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives needed.
1 cup coconut water (natural source of potassium and magnesium)
½ cucumber, peeled and sliced (hydrating and soothing)
1 small orange, segmented (rich in vitamin C and natural sugars for energy)
A generous pinch of Baja Gold sea salt (for sodium and trace minerals)
1 cup filtered water
Optional: a few mint leaves or a squeeze of lime for extra zing
Add the coconut water, cucumber, orange, Baja Gold, and filtered water to a blender.
Blitz until smooth.
Strain through a fine mesh sieve for a smoother texture (optional).
Pour over ice and sip slowly.
Coconut water delivers a natural dose of potassium, one of the most vital electrolytes for muscle recovery and heart health.
Cucumber is over 95% water and packed with silica, which can help reduce inflammation and cool the body.
Orange adds a gentle hit of glucose ideal for replenishing glycogen stores—and vitamin C to support the immune system.
Baja Gold sea salt isn’t your average table salt. It’s rich in sodium and over 30 trace minerals that help restore electrolyte balance and prevent cramping.
Post-workout or hot yoga
After travel, especially flying
During or after sun exposure
As a morning-after tonic following alcohol
To support hydration during illness or recovery
Healf tip: Don’t wait until you feel thirsty. Sip small amounts of electrolyte-rich fluids throughout the day to maintain optimal hydration and energy levels, especially if you're active or stressed.
This is more than a thirst-quencher, it’s a ritual. A way to replenish what your body’s lost with ingredients that nourish and energise.
