Your body deserves a lot more than guesswork and trends — that philosophy is central to everything we do at Healf. And it's exactly what drew us to collaborate with atis on a two new smoothies.
Atis takes food seriously, curating menus that redefine what fast, nourishing food can look like. Each ingredient that goes into their salads, bowls, and smoothies has a purpose and a function, with the goal of helping you feel powerful, strong, and energised. So, when they asked us to build two new offerings for their menu, our missions were already aligned. All we had to do was find the perfect ingredients.
This May, after months of work, atis launched two new smoothies with the help of Healf's curation team, who specially selected the ingredients to really give the body what it needs. The drinks are built on the same rich cacao base, but do different things inside the body. The first, Recovery & Repair, supports muscle and bone synthesis, while Focus & Flow is all about the cognitive benefits.
“This is exactly the kind of wellbeing I believe in," says nutritionist Rose Ferguson, MSc. "Simple, delicious and genuinely functional. These smoothies bring together powerful ingredients like lion’s mane and MCT for clarity, and creatine and collagen for recovery, alongside nutrient dense whole foods, so, they’re not about restriction or quick fixes, they’re about giving your body and brain smart, credible support in a way that fits real life.”
A good smoothie requires a strong base, so we chose three ingredients that work on the cellular level to support your wellbeing.
The smoothie's fruit base, which includes berries, banana, and nut butter, provides a great combination of fibre and fats to slow sugar absorption and support steady energy release, says Ferguson. “Berries are fantastic; they’re low glycaemic, rich in phytonutrients and great for skin. Overall, it’s a very nutrient-dense, energising combination.”
Cacao is one of the most potent superfoods on the planet, and nowhere is that better exemplified than in Anima Mundi's Heirloom Cacao powder. Cacao contains a wide range of healing compounds, including flavanols like epicatechin and catechin, which reduce inflammation and improve blood flow by stimulating nitric oxide. Cacao also contains theobromine, which acts as a vasodilator, and is one of the richest sources of magnesium of any natural food. Perhaps most fascinating, cacao contains a neuromodulator called PEA that triggers the release of the 'feel good' hormone dopamine, and an endocannabinoid (it binds to the same cannabinoid receptors as THC) called anandamide.
When it comes to hydrogen water, there are rhousands of clinical studies that show its efficacy and powerful antioxidant properties. H2Tab delivers all those benefits in a simple tablet form. Hydrogen water can selectively neutralise harmful free radicals without disrupting beneficial reactive oxygen species, specifically targeting the free radical “hydroxyl” in the brain and body. It can also improve muscle recovery and gut health, and protect from inflammation and cellular degeneration.
Baja Gold Salt is one of the highest mineral-content salts you can find, containing over 90 minerals that mineralise the body at a cellular level. This salt is pure, unrefined and solar dehydrated for both broad-spectrum nourishment of the body and an incredible taste profile.
In addition to the hydrogen and cacao-rich base, this smoothie adds in collagen and creatine. Collagen, the most abundant protein in the body, supports things like joints, gut lining, and soft tissue, while creatine boosts energy production, muscle function, and brain function, Ferguson points out. “Combined with the anti-inflammatory properties of the fruit and healthy fats, this makes for a really supportive recovery option," she says.
The smoothie also comes with a square of Cosmic Dealer's lavender and macadamia nut butter chocolates.
APE Grass-Fed Collagen contains Type 1 and Type 3 collagen peptides — structural collagen (bones, tendons, skin) and soft-tissue collagen (organs, vessels). It's sourced from certified grass-fed, regeneratively farmed cattle, free from hormones. The reason grass-fed and regenerative sourcing matters for collagen specifically is purity — collagen is a direct protein extraction, so what the animal was exposed to comes through in the product. Type 1 and 3 together cover the widest range of tissue nourishment: skin, hair, nails, joints.
Thorne Creatine is micronised creatine monohydrate — ground finer for better absorption. Most people associate creatine with gym performance, which is warranted: it improves ATP synthesis, the cellular process that produces energy for muscle contraction. But the evidence for creatine's effects on brain function has grown considerably. It reduces mental fatigue, supports working memory, and appears to have neuroprotective effects. It's one of the most studied supplements in existence. The smoothie context makes sense — creatine is tasteless and mixes cleanly.
This smoothie adds in three new ingredients that are geared towards cognitive performance: Lion's Mane and MCT Oil, with a sprinkle of Cymbiotika Golden Mind to finish it off. Ingredients that boost cognition are increasingly popular because they provide a practical, simple, everyday way to support mental and physical health, per Ferguson. “Lion’s mane has really exciting evidence for supporting cognition, and MCT oil helps support brain function by providing an alternative fuel source," she says. “Together, they can help with clarity and mental performance. This smoothie will work really well when you need a mental lift, for example, mid-afternoon when often our energy dips.”
Real Mushrooms Lion's Mane is one of the more research-backed cognitive mushroom extracts available. Its active compounds — hericenones and erinacines — upregulate Nerve Growth Factor, the protein that drives the growth and maintenance of neurons. This one contains 30% beta-glucans, a marker of quality and potency that most products don't hit. The beta-glucans also contribute to immune modulation and anti-inflammatory activity. The cognitive effects build over time rather than being acutely felt.
MCT Oil provides the immediate energy component. Medium-chain triglycerides are converted into ketones in the liver, which cross the blood-brain barrier and function as a direct fuel source for neurons. This is particularly useful when you're in a low-glucose state or if you're undergoing intense mental strain in your daily life. MCT also supports mitochondrial function, which is essential for both brain and physical performance.
Cymbiotika Golden Mind is the topper, and the lead compound is phosphatidylcholine — a phospholipid that forms the structural basis of cell membranes and is essential for acetylcholine synthesis, one of the primary neurotransmitters involved in memory and attention. Phosphatidylcholine doesn't produce a stimulant effect; it supports the underlying architecture that cognition runs on.
The key message here is that these smoothies are a key add-in to your daily nutrition and wellbeing rituals. You're adding in more support for physical and cognitive function, which is a much more "positive and sustainable approach" to wellbeing, says Ferguson.
“These kinds of smoothies are so practical for modern lifestyles. A lot of people don’t have time for proper meals during the day, so having something functional, nutrient dense and easy can be really valuable," she adds. “They’re a convenient way to support your body without overcomplicating things.”
